The New Captain America

It seems that Marvel is not just shaking things up with their new Thor; it seems that we will have a new incarnation of Captain America as well. Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon (who appeared in last summer’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier) will be taking the mantle of Captain America in the comics. He will be the seventh person to take that title, and the first black character to take the title. It seems as if Marvel’s movie interests and comic interests seem to be coming together. After all, the Avengers actors are only contractually obligated for two more movies, so if Marvel wants to keep going with the series they have to find a way to write new actors into the series.

First official pictures from Avengers 2

Entertainment Weekly has released the first set of stills from the upcoming sequel to The Avengers (which is currently filming). This is in addition to the first shot that has been released of Ultron today. These pictures give us our first glance at Ultron, the films villain, and of Quicksilver (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson). The movie is due out next summer. You can view the picture of Ultron below, and view the other eight images here. Also included below is the concept art, for the much anticipated Hulkbuster suit supposedly to be worn by Tony Stark.

SNL loses more cast members

After former cast member Brooks Wheelan tweeted yesterday “Fired from New York, its Saturday Night!” , today it was announced that three more cast members will be leaving. Both Noel Wells and John Milhiser, first year cast members, did not have their contracts renewed. Furthermore, five-year veteran Nasim Perdrad is leaving the show to star in a new FOX show “Mulaney”. While I don’t really remember any of what the former two did on the show, Pedrad’s loss will be huge; she is probably best known for her impressions of Barbara Walters and of course Ariana Huffington. It’s a shame as Pedrad was one of the brightest stars on the show.

Marvel’s big announcement

Yesterday, Marvel tweeted about a major announcement that they would be making this morning on The View. Well, they have made their announcement, and it was quite different than most people were expecting. Instead of announcing news from their movie universe, they announced something about their comic books. That something turned out to be a new Thor. Except, this Thor will be female. Here is a quote from today’s announcement:

“The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription,” says Marvel editor Wil Moss. “The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute – she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!”

You can read the entire announcement here.

Big Hero 6 full trailer

After a couple months of teasers and character introductions, Disney has finally released the full trailer for their upcoming film Big Hero 6. The trailer showcases both the villain of the film and much more about Baymax the robot. I am going on record at this time and saying that this film is going to be quite good. Early prediction: 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
