Be the Batman. Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight is the third installment of their video game trilogy. As such, there is a lot of pressure on them to release the greatest Batman game ever. Their first game, Arkham Asylum, introduced a new genre of comic book video games by giving a real batman experience complete with fighting and detective skills. The follow-up, Arkham City, did what a sequel should and took every aspect of what made Asylum great and improved upon it. Now that Arkham Knight is here, it is safe to say Rocksteady accomplished an amazing final act. The fights flow perfectly, the detective skills are better, and the addition of the Batmobile, while clunky at first, is wonderful after taming the metal steed.
Because this is the third installment, a majority of the plot is reliant upon the previous games and will isolate players just now joining the series on the next generation consoles. Being exclusive for PS4 and Xbox One, the scenery is very vivid and cinematic transitions into gameplay are nearly perfect.
Gameplay has been improved once again, the cinematics and story line are to be commended as it is just as enjoyable to watch as to play, and the plot twists are worthy of comic lore and the silver screen. The game was delayed several times and after finally playing, it was well worth the wait.
I’d have to agree, the gameplay is incredibly smooth and fluid. The Batmobile took a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, its quite easy.
